The Day before the Wedding

On the day before Marc and I tied the knot I decided to have a little fun in Moab with my friends. I started the day off with coffee at Dave's Corner Market, and then moved onto breakfast at the Jail House Cafe.  (I hit all the Moab hotspots in just a matter of hours!)  This is my favorite place in Moab to grab my breakfast of champions.  Perhaps it is the whole grain waffles, the ginger pancakes, or the delicious omelets but this place is fantastic.  I ended up meeting my godmother Jane, dad, mom, R-Kriek, and Sibs for breakfast.  The Jail House Cafe at one point in time was the real Moab jail house, and eventually became the place to grab a bit before a big ride.
(Jane, myself, my dad, Ricky, Shannon, and my mom all leaving the Jail House with happy tummies!)
(Shannon, Ricky, and myself, out on the slick rock trail...thank goodness for a timer on my camera to get this group shot.)

After breakfast Shannon (aka Sibs), Ricky, and I snooped around town a bit.  We eventually decided that we were going to rent some mountain bikes and tackle some of the famous slick rock here in Moab.  We all rented Yeti bicycles (yes our pooch is named after these bikes) and headed out to the trail.  All of us are pretty good road bikers, but we lack the technical skills that are necessary to ride the real slick rock trails.  We asked a girl at the bike shop where we should ride, and following her advice we took off for our adventure.  All in all the ride went well, and we managed to escape any broken bones.  We did have a few bumps, bruises, and broken bikes, but Sibold, Ricky, and I had a fantastic day.  We road  beginner/intermediate trail with some technical and slick rock sections.  It was the perfect starter ride for a bunch of amateurs.
Shannon giving the thumbs up that she survived another slow motion crash!

Next we were off to return the bikes and get cleaned up for our dinner/river cruise that evening.  Canyonlands by Night here we come.
