This week was a pretty busy one. We had our cabinet maker come up to take some final measurements and layout concepts. Again looking forward to seeing those drawings in the coming days. I also spent days walking various granite yards looking for that perfect slab. Unfortunately I have yet to find it. So far this reno has been pretty smooth, but what type of granite we get has clearly created the marital divide. We'll see how this one shakes out...we have agreed that while we don't like this particular color of granite, it does have our favorite name....UBA TUBA. Keep in mind we say this around the house in the deepest voice possible while working.
We also had the one the only Scott Schoenbeck come up. He helped Norman and I with hanging metal studs for the drywall to be mounted to. That was quite an evening that went into the early hours of the morning. A lot of work was certainly accomplished then and of course came across a few bumps in the road as all remodels tend to do.
| We have a hole in the floor since some of the support beams are not level. Marc is going to level them out this weekend. Literally a bump in the reno project! |
Then today came the ultimate day....the big day! I went and purchased the last of our appliances that we needed for the kitchen. One of the kitchen appliance shops here in town was having a closeout sale on most of their demo appliances and overstock. We ended up getting a super sweet refrigerator and a wine refrigerator at pretty good discounts to complete our kitchen. Best part...they deliver! Giddy up! There is however one downside. They want to deliver it within two weeks. I need them to deliver it in two weeks plus 4 days because in two weeks we get our flooring installed, sealed, and finished.
| This is our new refrigerator! I love the handles on it because they look like Olympic weightlifting bars. So great! |
Ohh wait but the big day is not quite yet over....Marc picked up our hardwood flooring today. It has to acclimatize in the house for two weeks prior to getting installed. Which means this weekend Yeti's green island of comfort is going to be ripped up! Sorry little buddy...This whole reno thing has really rocked his world! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to destroy our house!
