Girls on the Run 5k!

GIRLS on the RUN 5k!
At the end of May we held our 5k Fun Run for Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is the charity organization here in town that I have been donating to and volunteering with for over a year now. It is such a fantastic organization and I feel so privileged to be part of it. Girls on the Run teaches young girls through a 12 week running curriculum about basic morals and values. Many of these girls that are part of the program come from underprivileged homes and so this type of after school program is invaluable to them. At the end of the 12 weeks we train the girls not only to be strong inside but also on the outside by completing a 5k run! This is also our major fundraisers for our organization and each time we hope for a great turnout. This year we were fortunate to have 115 girls and 115 running buddies complete the 5k. It was great turnout and we keep hoping to grow each year. Below are some pictures from our 5k this spring.
Kelsey and Jenny post race! They did a great job of running together!
Some of the girls from Backman Elementary (the school I worked with) getting ready for the gun to go off!
If you look closely you might see two familiar faces! Troy and Marc were kind enough to volunteer and be running buddies! They really had to run to keep up with Natalie!
