Hello Friends!

Jeff, Shaw, Matt Leadville 100!

 Let me take a moment and tell you just how great this week has been...oh yes and it's only Tuesday night so let's hope more goodness is coming my way!  This past weekend was the Leadville 100 mountain bike and team Pedros, now Salt Lake City Grassroots Bicycle Club...I kinda like the old name better just because it is so much shorter...showed up in full force.  Lannie Jones, Jeff Martinez, and Shawn Frye all saddled up for the 100 mile mountain bike race.  Amongst mountain bikers Leadville is a legendary race that only the toughest survive, and if you make it to the finish line in under 12 hours you get one of the coveted belt buckles!  I'm happy to report that all three riders made it in under the cut off and were all smiles post race.  It was fantastic to get up to Leadville to to cheer them on as I have pretty much been missing everyone a lot this summer and their arrival in Colorado was well timed with my growing homesickness.  A huge congratulations to Jeff, Lannie, and Shawn on their amazing accomplishment it was so great to hang out with you all for the day!

Next up on the friend flashback is my old teammate the one the only JOEY CHEEK!  That's right, Cheeks is here in COS watching his lil' brother (who really isn't that little) Michael compete in the inline nationals going on all week long here in town.  Joey and I headed out for dinner and drinks this evening (because we are now sophisticated humans in our after sports lives) and it was so great to get to catch up on what we have been doing since we left sport.  He has just launched his own sports media website that targets the non mainstream sports...ie not baseball, basketball, or football, but rather sports like fencing, swimming, beach volleyball, and of course a little speed skating and inline action in there too!  It's written in a blog format..why because as we all know blogs are awesome, and if I could categorize it I would say it is centered around the locker room or water cooler chat.  Meaning it's not just stats and sports analysis, but rather more of an insiders view of the sports that are being reported on.  He writes many of the articles himself, but also has lots of fellow athlete contributing.  If those of you out in webland are interested in checking out his site click on the following link to see what he's reporting on.
